Apple tipped to be working on smart glasses

Apple is considering an expansion into smart glasses market, according to a new report from Bloomberg. The pair of digital smart glasses are said to use augmented reality, added the report.

The report goes on saying that as per its sources, the smart glasses would connect wirelessly to the iPhone and showcase images and other content on to the glasses. The exact details about price and release date are not known however, it is expected that Apple could launch the smart glasses product as soon as 2018.

Bloomberg reported,

Apple has talked about its glasses project with potential suppliers, according to people familiar with those discussions. The company has ordered small quantities of near-eye displays from one supplier for testing, the people said.

Apple has showed interest in AR since a long time suggesting it is working on some project. In June this year, Apple was granted patent for a transparent AR device and a wrap-around display. The company CEO Tim Cook has also expressed interest in AR and VR many times. It will be interesting to see what Apple has to offer with its own version of smart glasses. Meanwhile, in Septemeber Snapchat unveiled Spectacles with built-in camera for $129.99.
