It looks like Google is haveing second thoughts again regarding its “Cast” branding. The company is now phasing out from Cast branding for speakers, TVs, and other hardware that supports its casting technology. Instead, Googleis now replacing Cast with “Chromecast built-in”.
The latest change in the branding comes just a month after Google renamed the Cast app as Google Home. Google said the new branding would “better reflect that Google Cast technology is now supported across a wide range of devices such as Chromecast, TVs, displays, and speakers”. The new branding will officially start from 2017.
The Google Cast name was originally introduced when Google began expanding Chromecasting to other devices. Google renamed its Google Cast Twitter account to @Chromecast and even the Cast website now mentions the new name, “Google Cast–also known as Chromecast built-in.”
