Amazon introduced Echo Dot (2nd Generation) powered by Alexa back in September. Here we have the unboxing and first impressions of the virtual assistant device.

The Echo dot has a action button, microphone button and volume control buttons on the top. There are also array of seven microphones around these buttons, which are same found in Amazon Echo. It uses beam-forming technology and enhanced noise cancellation to detect the wake word, Alexa, from across the room.
According to Amazon the new Echo Dot features a more powerful speech processor, which delivers improved far-field speech recognition accuracy. You can use Alexa to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, read the news, set alarms, and more
It has a Amazon branding on the front.
On the back there is a micro USB port for power and a 3.5mm audio jack, so that you can directly connect it to speakers.
It has Built-in speaker for voice feedback when not connected to external speakers. This lets you use it as a smart alarm clock. You can also connect to other speakers over Bluetooth. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (Dual-band) to connect to Alexa cloud services.
It measures just 32x 84 x 84 mm and weighs just 163 grams. You need to use the companion Alexa App for Android, iOS and is also accessible via web browser.
