Motorola launched a new line of accessories to expand the capability of Moto Z smartphones with an add-on adapters called Moto Mods. During launch, there were four Moto Mods — JBL SoundBoost speaker, Moto Insta-Share projector, Incipio OffGrid battery and Hasselblad True Zoom Camera. Last week it introduced two more Moto Mods – Mophie Juice Pack and Incipio Car Dock.
Recently, Lenovo’s Moto exec announced that the company will be releasing at least 12 new Moto Mods per year. If this is the case, the company will be releasing three Moto Mods per quarter.
The company is planning to start a campaign ‘Indiegogo’ from January to involve more developers. If the information turns out to be true, the upcoming mods will be focused more on photography and might come with the second screen to Mods as well.
Some of the potential ideas including Game controller, Measurement tool, remote control, Alarm clock and much more might or might not come into existence.
Stephen McDonnell, senior manager of the Moto Mods Ecosystem said:
The mods are putting new sensors into phone. When you attach a JBL speaker to your phone, that’s your phone’s speaker now.
