After the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, the South Korean giant Samsung has taken an unusual step to prevent a further explosion. This news comes after some Galaxy Note 7 users out there don’t want to return their devices. As promised, the company has started slowly to force the users to return their device.
According to the report, Samsung has witnessed around 93% participation in U.S. Note 7 Refund and Exchange program. In an attempt to make it a full count, Samsung is planning to release a software update on December 19th and will reach every on in a time frame of 30 days.
The company claims that this update will eliminate their ability to work as mobile devices. Samsung along with other carrier partners will be notifying consumers through multiple touch points to encourage any remaining Galaxy Note7 owners to participate in the program and to take advantage of the financial incentives available.
However, Verizon said that it will not be taking part in this update. “We will not push a software upgrade that will eliminate the ability for the Note7 to work as a mobile device in the heart of the holiday travel season. We do not want to make it impossible to contact family, first responders or medical professionals in an emergency situation,” said Verizon.
