We already know that Samsung is working on foldable smartphones dubbed as Galaxy X. Now, a new leak from Weibo has shared names of the two foldable smartphones – Galaxy X1, Galaxy X1 Plus. The smartphones also have model numbers -SM-X9000 and SM-X9050.
As per the Weibo listing, the phones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, however there is another report that says Galaxy X1 would run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, whereas the Galaxy X1 Plus will get the updated Android Nougat out-of-the-box. There is no other information about the specification of the phones.
In November, Samsung bagged patents for flexible display by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Meanwhile, the company had also applied patents for foldable smartphones that are expected to come in around design with a hinge in the center. It is said that these smartphone will have a different aspect ratio rather than the usual 16:9. The patent sketches revealed that the smartphone has a bendable section in the middle that will allow users to fold the smartphone like a flip phone. Last month, a separate report also stated Samsung is working on two different types of foldable smartphones one of which will sport flat display on each side while the other foldable smartphone will feature a single flexible OLED display.
