Google is out with its monthly Android distribution chart which is also the first one of 2017. Android Nougat 7.0 is still crawling at 0.5%, up just 1% from last month. However, Android Nougat 7.1 has made its debut in the chart at 0.2%. This means the Google’s latest Android OS is currently available only on 0.7% of all Android devices.
Meanwhile, Android 6.0 Marshmallow adoption has increased to 29.6% from 26.3% in December. Android Lollipop (5.0/5.1) has decreased from 34% to 33.4% this month while KitKat (4.4) is also down from 24% to 22.6%. Jelly Bean (Android 4.1-4.3) claimed 11.6 percent in January, down from 12.8% in December. Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread are present on 1.1% and 1.0% respectively.
Other highlight of this month’s chart is that Google has finally decided to bid adieu to Froyo version of the OS, as its numbers have gone down below 0.1%.
