Weekly Round up – Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro and more

This week Xiaomi launched Redmi Note4 in India, Lenovo launched Phab 2 Pro Tango smartphone while Samsung launched Galaxy C9 Pro and mid ranger J2 Ace. Micromax launched Vdeo 3 and Vdeo 4 smartphones that support 4G VoLTE. Check out all the announcements and launches from this week in our roundup.

Xiaomi launched Redmi Note4 smartphone in India. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, similar to the Redmi Note 3, but this is powered by a an Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 SoC, instead of Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 processor on the Redmi Note 3. It runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with MIUI 8 top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone  LED flash and phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in Gold and Dark Gray colors. It will also be available in Matte Black color version sometime in the third week on February. It is priced at Rs. 9999 for the 2GB RAM with 32GB storage version, Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version, while the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version costs Rs. 12,999. It will be available exclusively from Flipkart and Mi.com starting from 23rd January, 12 noon.

Lenovo has launched Phab 2 Pro Tango-enabled smartphone with 6.4 inch Quad HD display launched in India for Rs. 29990. It has four cameras that includes a 16-megapixel RGB camera, a depth camera, a motion tracking camera and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera for Tango’s 3D mapping technology to understand the world around you.

Micromax launched Vdeo 3 and Vdeo 4 smartphones that support 4G VoLTE. The phones pack a 5-inch HD screen, are powered by Snapdragon SoCs, have 1GB of RAM and run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The Vdeo 4 has a 4000mAh battery. These phones have a metal back, come pre-loaded with Google Duo video calling app out of the box and also come bundled with Jio SIM card. The Micromax Vdeo 3 and Vdeo 4 are priced at Rs. 5749 and Rs. 6249, respectively.

Panasonic launched P-BTS50 Bluetooth Sport Waterproof Headphones for Rs. 8999. It has 12mm driver, which is compatible with aptX and AAC codec. It has a round-the-ear 3D-Flex Hanger that stays in place even in strenuous workouts.

Samsung launched Galaxy C9 Pro that sports a 6-inch 1080p display, is powered by Snapdragon 653 and comes with 6GB RAM. It runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) with Samsung’s own UI on top and has 16-megapixel front and rear cameras. The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro comes in Black and Gold colors in India, is priced at Rs. 36900 and will be available from late  February 2017 in the country.

Samsung also launched J2 Ace smartphone which comes with 5-inch (960 x 540 Pixels) PLS TFT display and is powered by 1.4 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor. It comes with 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 256GB with microSD and runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). The phone has 8MP auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and 5MP front-facing camera with LED flash. The Samsung Galaxy J2 Ace comes in Gold, Black and Silver colors and is priced at Rs. 8,490.


Ulefone announced Gemini, its latest mid-range smartphone and its first phone with dual rear cameras. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel camera to capture depth information offering Bokeh effect for blurred background or foreground. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the front to unlock the phone in 0.15 seconds. It has a full metal unibody design and packs a 5.5-inch 1080p screen from Sharp. The Ulefone Gemini comes in Black, Grey and Golden colors and is priced at $139.99 (Rs. 9530 approx.) during pre-sales. It will start shipping next month.

Samsung announced Galaxy C7 Pro that sports a  5.7-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 626 processor. It has a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, runs on Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) with Samsung’s own UI on top, has a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and a fingerprint sensor on the home button on the front and has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.The Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro comes in Gold, Rose Gold, Blue colors, is priced at 2799 Yuan (US$405 / Rs. 27630 approx.) and will be avilable for pre-order in China soon.

LG announced X300 mid-range smartphone with Snapdragon 425 SoC in Korea. It packs a 5-inch HD In-Cell Touch display, runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat), has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has Auto Shot, Gesture Shot and several shooting modes.
