LG took wraps of its flagship G6 smartphone at the ongoing MWC 2017. We are live at the event and have got our hands on the phone. So let’s take a detailed look at the LG G6.
The G6 sports a (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ LCD FullVision display with a 18:9 aspect ratio, 564 PPI. It has narrow bezels on the side which offers more room for the display. The phone features a metal frame that is sandwiched between to Corning Gorilla glass panels. The unibody metal design and strong build offers it a premium look.
It has a 5MP front camera with 100-degree wide-angle lens. The earpiece and usual set of proximity and ambient light sensors are present at the top. The phone is powered by a Quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU and comes with 4GB RAM, 32GB / 64GB (UFS 2.0) internal memory, expandable memory up to 2TB with microSD. It runs Android 7.0 (Nougat) with LG UX 6.0. The G6 is the first phone outside the Pixel range to come with the Google Assistant.
As mentioned earlier, the phone has really thin bezels on the sides and smaller bezels on top and the bottom. The LG branding is present below.
Right side of the phone houses the volume rockers and antenna band.
On the left you have the SIM card slot and antenna band. The phone is sleek as it measures 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 163 grams.
There were rumors that the G6 would ditch the 3.5mm audio jack however it sits right there on the top of the phone. Also present are antenna bands and microphone.
The USB Type C port, antenna band, microphone and loudspeaker grill are situated at the bottom. The phone is water, dust resistant (IP68) and comes with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Dolby Vision.
The LG G6 comes with a 13MP dual rear cameras with dual-tone LED Flash, OIS 2.0, 4K video recording, 71-degree-wide angle lens, secondary rear camera with 125-degree lens. The fingerprint sensor is present just below the camera module.
The G6 branding is present at the lower back.
Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C 2.0 (3.1 compatible). It has a 3300mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
The LG G6 comes in Astro Black, Ice Platinum and Mystic White colors. The company is yet to reveal the price and availability.
