Google confirms no new Pixel Chromebook laptops are in the works

It looks like Google is pulling the plug on its Pixel Chromebook which is high end notebook that runs on Chrome OS. Google senior vice president for hardware Rick Osterloh told TechCrunch at MWC that the company plans to stop making the Pixel Chromebook line after just two iterations.

He further said Google may still use the Pixel branding for future products that integrate Google’s software with its own hardware but it will not make a laptop. Google had launched Pixel Chromebook in 2015 however, the device which starts at $999 failed to gain any traction. Osterloh said,”Google hasn’t backed away from laptops,” but added that the company has no plans for Google-branded laptops to “discuss at this time.”

He further admitted that the Pixel smartphones have been experiencing supply and demand issues.
