For that matter, we have Bluetooth speakers which exactly serves the purpose when you want to carry a wireless and compact sound system while we are on the go. Design and Hardware
Talking about the design, the Monk Bluetooth speaker is very compact with a square-shaped body that can be easy tossed into a bag or your pocket in that case and take it on the go.
Unlike Stuffcool Miles, it has just front firing speaker that vibrates to certain extent when the volume increased to full. Moving on to the front of the speaker it has a speaker grill with a company branding in the middle. Having said that, it has a small blue LED light inside the grill to show the status.
On to the back, it has a USB port for charging and a MicroSD card slot. There is also a lanyard port.
The top side of the speaker has three button that included power and Volume adjustment (Increase and Decrease) buttons as well.
Further, the downside of the speaker houses four small grip pads that prevents the speaker from moving or falling when placed on a sloppy surface. It measures 78 x 40 x 78mm and weighs around 163 grams. It’s worth mentioning that it doesn’t have any AUX port for connecting devices without Bluetooth support.
Sound Quality and Performance
Pairing up the speaker with your smartphone is not a difficult job at all. In order to pair up the device, switch on the speaker using power button and turn on the Bluetooth of your mobile device and search for Monk.
During our real-time usage, we paired this speaker with iPhone 6s and the Stuffcool Monk performance is pretty decent for its price range. This very Bluetooth speaker has an output power of 3W which offers clear sound. Also, it is not loud enough neither does it offer a strong bass output due to its small size. However, we doubt that the audio from this speaker can fill even a small-sized room.
Moreover, the speaker supports calling facilities as it has inbuilt microphone and the call quality is just fine even though it lags a bit. You can answer and end calls by pressing the power button on the top of the speaker. Additionally, the MicroSD card option also works fine, as we didn’t face any problem during out usage. This speaker supports MicroSD card up to 32GB and has Bluetooth Version 4.2. It is juiced with 600mAh built-in rechargeable battery with 3 hours of continuous playback. We managed to get about 2.5 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Conclusion
Overall, if you are looking out for a compact, decent sounding wireless speaker in the price range, the Stuffcool Monk will serve your purpose. It is available in Black/Red, Blue/Yellow and Grey/Blue colors and is priced at an MRP price of Rs. 1,899, but you can buy it little cheaper on Amazon India at Rs. 1,599.
However, there are other speakers including Xiaomi Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker with some good audio output at slightly cheaper rate. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not officially launched it India. If you are looking for a speaker with better sound quality with thumping bass and waterproof body and can spend a bit more, you can check out the Stuffcool Miles Bluetooth speaker that is slightly larger than the Monk.
