Gmail for web will now let you stream video attachments

Gmail for web has received a new update that makes previewing video attachments smoother and quicker. Desktop users can now stream video attachments instead of downloading them. The latest feature comes after Gmail increased the attachment limit to 50MB earlier this month.

Prior to this update, users had to download a video attachment in Gmail in order to view it. With the latest update you will now see a thumbnail of the video and have the ability to stream it, right from inside Gmail. Google said this feature uses the same “infrastructure that powers YouTube, Google Drive, and other video streaming apps, so video is delivered at optimal quality and availability.”

The feature is coming to Gmail for web in the next 15 days. Earlier this week, Gmail for Android added the ability for U.S. users to send money via attachments.
