Google is working on a new Google Home speaker that will come with a mesh WiFi router that will allow it to boost Wi-Fi signals around the home, according to a latest report from The Information. Mesh Wi-Fi strings a Wi-Fi connection together with the use of multiple routers to create a more consistent coverage area.

Google already has Google WiFi, its own mesh networking solution that lets you add Google WiFi points in a large room. A consistent Wi-Fi access will automatically let users access Google Assistant to the fullest. Launched last year, the Google Home smart speaker was Google’s answer to Amazon Echo. It lets you enjoy music, manage everyday tasks and ask Google questions via voice commands. You can use “Ok Google” command to ask Google Home about the weather, news and more. The built in search feature on Google Home learns from your habits and patterns and knows you overtime.

Unfortunately, the report does not reveal any other details about the next generation Google Home device. If the new Google Home device will come with built-in mesh WiFi technology, it will be costlier than the existing version. There is no word on pricing and release date of the next generation Google Home smart speaker.
