Xiaomi introduces Mi VR Play 2 with lightweight soft fabric body

Xiaomi this week introduced Mi VR Play 2 its second-generation VR (Virtual Reality) headset in China, which is the successor of last year’s Mi VR Play. Unlike the zipper design on the predecessor, this has outer covering made of light-weight and soft fabric so the whole headset weighs just 183 grams. It can fit phones from 4.7 to 5.7 inches in size, similar to the predecessor. It looks like Google Daydream View but it doesn’t come with a wireless remote.

It has a open design to place the phone that offers good ventilation. Xiaomi says that it has 268 stealth holes to effectively prevent the phone getting heated and enhance the cooling. It has dual anti-reflective aspheric lenses that promises the best clarity.

Around the lenses there is a microporous woven foam material to increase ventilation and comfort. It is also easy to clean says Xiaomi. It has elastic headband that is strong and durable. Xiaomi Mi VR app offers videos from Chinese online video service. On the top there is a button which acts a navigation button that interacts with your smartphone during VR experience.

The Xiaomi Mi VR Play 2 comes in black color, is priced at 99 yuan (US$ 14.3 / Rs. 930 approx.) and will go on sale in China on April 19th.
