Google WebVR on Chrome now works with Google Cardboard

Earlier this year Google brought Virtual reality (VR) support for to Chrome offering fully immersive experience with Chrome and Daydream-ready phone and Daydream View headset. Now it has brought WebVR on Chrome to Google Cardboard, so that anyone with an Android phone and Cardboard can experience VR on the web.

It has also launched WebVR Experiments that showcases experiences developers are already building. “Each experiment shows shows something different you can try in WebVR,” said Google.

WebVR Experiments showcase include:

  • The Musical Forest by Google Creative Lab
  • Konterball by Wild
  • Speak to Go by Google Creative Lab & Jaume Sanchez
  • Under Neon Lights by Within
  • Sonic Umbrella by Plan8
  • Spot-the-Bot by Hook
  • Mr Nom Nom by Etter Studio
  • Chromatic by Funktronic Labs
  • Finding Love by Active Theory
  • Day & Night by Stewart Smith
  • Mass Migrations by Marpi
  • Bear 71 by NFB, Jam3, IDFA Doclab, Sound & Vision

You can access these at webvrexperiments.com. “If you don’t have Cardboard or Daydream, you can still play on desktop or on any phone in 2D,” said Google. WebVR support on Chrome for desktop headsets like Oculus Rift and HTC VIVE will be available soon.
