Google Maps for iOS gets directions widget and iMessage app for location sharing

Google Maps for iOS has received a bunch of new features in latest update. The update that bumps the app to version  4.30.0 brings a new directions widget and a iMessage app for easier location sharing.

The directions widget will offer turn-by-turn navigation right on your lock screen. It can be enabled by heading to the Today View of the Notification Center, scrolling down to the “Edit” button, and then enabling Google Directions. Turn-by-turn navigation directions will be available through the widget in the Notification Center, which can be accessed by swiping right on the lock screen.

Next up, the update adds the iMessage app to Google Maps for instant location sharing. You can send your location without leaving the app. This is an expansion to the recent real-time location sharing feature for Google Maps. Finally, the app gets bug fixes.
