HTC U11 Hands On and Photo Gallery

HTC just announced its flagship U11 smartphone. We are live at the event and have got our hands on the phone. So let’s take a detailed look at hardware and specifications of the U11.

The HTC U11 sports a 5.5-inch (1440 x 2560 pixels) Quad HD Super LCD 5 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It has liquid glass surface crafted using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition. There is an earpiece at the top with 16MP front-facing camera. A physical button below the display also doubles up as a fingerprint sensor.

The phone is powered by a 2.45GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Running Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) with HTC Sense UI, it comes with 6GB RAM with 128GB storage (UFS 2.1), 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, expandable memory up to 2TB with microSD.

Power button and volume rockers are present on the right side.

There are no buttons on the left. The phone measures 153.9 x 75.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 169g. It is pretty sleek and feels good to hold in one hand.

The bottom of the phone houses USB Type-C audio which coupled with the new HTC USonic combines Active Noise Cancellation with the ability to tune audio to your unique hearing. It uses built-in microphones on the headset and USB-C data connectivity. The phone has four optimally positioned omni-directional microphones that work together to record audio from all directions.

SIM card slot, microphone and antenna band cut out are present on the top. One of the major highlights of the HTC U11 is that is has Edge Sensor for new squeeze interaction that lets you launch the camera, send text messages, open email or customize it to launch any application. It also lets you activate advanced touch and use a “short squeeze” as well as a “squeeze and hold” for even more functionality.

The phone has a 3D glass on the back as well that offers it a premium look. There is a 12MP HTC UltraPixel 3 rear camera a the back along with dual LED flash. HTC branding is also present in the middle. The phone is dust and water-resistant with IP67 ratings.

Connectivity options on the phone include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1 Gen . It comes with a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.

The HTC U11 comes in Amazing Silver, Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Black, Ice White, and Solar Red, is priced at €749/£649 and will be available worldwide from May 2017.
