OnePlus is all set to introduce its new flagship OnePlus 5 smartphone on June 20th. Today, the first press render of the smartphone has surfaced, thanks to Android Police. This shows the top half of the smartphone in Black color, with dual rear cameras, LED flash and a secondary microphone. It has a 2.5D curved glass screen and a large front camera sensor.
According to the press shot, the design of the phone looks a lot like the iPhone 7 Plus that has a similar horizontal camera arrangement. Even the OPPO R11 and R11 Plus that will be officially introduced later this week has a similar design. This is complete different from earlier renders and live image of a prototype that showed a vertical dual-camera arrangement.
OnePlus retains the three stage alert slider hardware toggle that has been there since the OnePlus 2. The volume rockers are present below that. The power button should be present on the right side.
OnePlus already confirmed that the smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform. OnePlus has teamed up with DxO, a photography benchmark to enhance the camera on the OnePlus 5. According to earlier rumors, the smartphone is said to feature fingerprint sensor on the front, similar to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, up to 8GB of RAM and Android 7.1 Nougat. The CEO also teased recently that it will be the thinnest flagship.
OnePlus online event starts at 12:00PM EDT (9:30 PM IST) on June 20th.
