LG extends warranty for G6 to two years

LG has announced a new program dubbed as Second Year Promise under which it will offer two year warranty for its G6 flagship smartphone. The program is eligible for LG G6 phones sold in the U.S., both from carriers and unlocked through online retailers.

The Second Year Promise program is being offered for free to all existing and future G6 customers. It must be noted that this is not an insurance program and will not cover or protect against accidental damage, such as a cracked screen due to a drop or fall. If your defective G6 is confirmed as covered by the limited warranty, you will receive your replacement G6 within two business days after your original device shipment date. Shipping both ways is covered by LG.

Users need to register their G6 with LG 90 days after the announcement of the program in order to extend the warranty. If you are planning on buying a G6, you have 90 days after you purchase the phone to register. LG has launched the Second Year Promise program because customers on average own their smartphones for 18 to 24 months. Since customers are keeping LG’s devices for longer periods, the company wanted to “ensure that customers remain as happy with their device in their second year of ownership compared to the first!”
