ZEISS optics coming back to Nokia smartphones

We really miss Carl ZEISS optics in the latest Nokia smartphones that were introduced this year. Several Nokia flagships including the Nokia 808  PureView and Nokia Lumia 1020 with 41MP sensor came with Carl Zeiss optics and set a benchmark in the smartphone industry. Today HMD Global and ZEISS jointly announced that they have signed an agreement to use ZEISS optics in Nokia smartphones.

“The partnership will see ZEISS and HMD Global co-develop standard-defining imaging capabilities and will bring the ZEISS brand back to Nokia smartphones,” said Nokia.

ZEISS and Nokia phones introduced several innovations such as the world’s first multi-megapixel mobile phone and many more standard-setting devices, from the Nokia Nseries to Nokia PureView technologies.

“This renewed relationship is a long-term commitment to build on that technology innovation over the years to come,” added Nokia.

Hope we can see ZEISS optics in the flagship Nokia 9 smartphone that is expected to come with 13MP (RBG) + 13MP (Monochrome) dual rear cameras.
