Microsoft has rolled out a new feature for the Skype Lite app that was launched at the beginning of this year in India. Dubbed as SMS Insights, the feature will allow users to send and receive SMS within the Skype Lite app.
Using machine learning, SMS Insights will automatically categorize messages by sorting it into categories like Finance, Shopping, Travel, Reminders, and Promotions. This will also help to keep you message inbox clean from spams and unwanted messages. Generally, Indian users receive a number of SMS including payment reminders, appointments, due dates and so on. SMS Insights will make it easier for users to keep a tab on all these important messages and also offer relevant action links that allow you to pay bills, check-in to flights, and even call customer support numbers. The Finance section shows your current balances across your accounts and wallets, on one screen, based on your most recent SMS messages.
In order to get SMS insights, you will have to allow SMS permission after downloading the Skype Lite. From the in-app settings, you can set Skype Lite as your default SMS application. The Skype Lite app which is aimed at users with low end Android devices, weighs just 13MB and works on phones with slower data connections. It also comes with Aadhaar integration.
