Lenovo has announced the Explorer Windows Mixed Reality headset at ongoing IFA 2017. It is designed as a natural extension of your PC, letting users of compatible mixed reality laptops and desktops.
It features inside-out positional tracking, like all Windows Mixed Reality devices. The headset lets you move around in an area of up to 3.5 by 3.5 meters. It does not need an external sensors by simply connecting the built-in Y-cable to your computer USB port and HDMI output. You can use motion controllers, an Xbox controller, keyboard and mouse, or voice commands through Cortana to use the Lenovo Explorer. The headset includes two 1440 x 1440 displays and has the ability to run VR games and apps.
Lenovo Explorer and Motion Controllers will start at $449, while the Lenovo Explorer alone will go for $349. Global availability is expected “in the coming weeks.
