OnePlus has finally started testing Android 8.0 (Oreo) for its OnePlus 3 smartphone, according to Android Police. OnePlus founder and CEO, Pete Lau already confirmed that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get Android Oreo update later this year and recently the company’s Head of Product said that Android O will be the last Android version update the phones will get.
It is a good thing that OnePlus is testing Android Oreo on the 3, but the company will soon start testing it on 3T and 5 before releasing public beta for these devices. According to the report, OnePlus is aiming to fix bugs in the closed beta and is looking for a stable build by mid-September, while the public beta will be released for all the three devices by the end of September.
OnePlus took a couple of months to roll out the first open beta build based on Android 7.0 (Nougat) for the OnePlus 3. It has just been couple of weeks Pixel and Nexus devices received the Oreo update and other OEMs are yet to release the update. We should get an official announcement regarding the roll out of public OxygenOS beta based on Android 8.0 (Oreo) for the phones soon.
