The Mi A1 features a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display and also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The phone has a familiar design, but it is quite different from the Redmi smartphones. It runs on stock Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) and will get updates directly from Google. It will get Android 8.0 (Oreo) by 2017 and will also get Android P update, promised Google at the launch event.
It runs on power-efficient Snapdragon 625 14nm Mobile Platform and has 4GB RAM. It comes with 64GB storage with microSD expansion through a hybrid SIM slot.
It has a 12MP rear camera with wide-angle lens, PDAF, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and a secondary 12MP camera with telephoto lens, 1.0 μm pixel size and f/2.6 aperture. There is a fingerprint sensor below the camera.
The phone has a unibody metal design and feels solid in hand. On the back there is a Mi branding along with Android One branding. The phone packs a 3080mAh built-in battery, which is slightly less compared to Redmi Note 4 and even flagship Mi 6 smartphone.
The Mi A1 goes on sale next Tuesday, September 12th through Flipkart and Mi.com online as well as Mi Home stores and offline retailers.
