Design and Build Quality
The SoundBot SB565 is a Sport headset that comes with two earpieces, connected by a flat cable. It is compact and has a light-weight design so it is easy to carry when not in use. The ergonomic titled ear tips of the headset make it fit in your ears securely. You will have to twist it at the correct angle for it to fit perfectly. It has water-resistant soft ear gel cushion that offers good comfort for everyday use. Since it is water-resistant, it can withstand sweat during workout, but you can expose it to rain or wash it.
You can also different set of ear buds to fit your ears and the ear fins that are made of soft rubber holds the headset in your ears securely so it doesn’t come out easily even when you are running or doing intensive work outs. Even though the body is made of plastic, it is sturdy and it also has scratch resistant surface to withstand wear and tear.
It has a multi-function button on the right earbud. You can pair Android and iOS devices by pressing it for 7 seconds to enter the pairing mode. Red and blue alternating lights glow to indicate the pairing mode. Now you have to select the SB565 from the Bluetooth list on the phone and select it for pairing. If it asks for a pass code, you can enter ‘0000’ to pair. You can press the button for 5 seconds to power it on. Blue light flashes for some time after it is on, and it blinks every few seconds. To turn it off you can press and hold the same button for 3 seconds, and the red-light flashes for a couple of seconds to indicate that it’s turning off.
To attend calls, you need to press the multi-function button once and the same button can end the call, while a double-click can reject an incoming call. In the standby mode, you can double-click the button to redial last number. When you press and hold it for 2 seconds to transfer a call between the headset and phone.
Music playback and volume control are also present on the right earpiece. When you press the top button once, volume increases and when you press and hold it, you can skip to next audio track. Similarly, the bottom button reduces the headset volume when you press it once and goes to previous track when you press and hold it. The bottom button can also mute the headset during a call when you press and hold it for about 2 seconds.
On the same earpiece, there is a micro USB port for charging the headset.
Audio Quality
Coming to the audio quality, the headset is quite loud and there is no distortion in high volume. The dynamic range is pretty good and the bass is good as well. Even vocals are clear if you are listening to audio books or podcasts. The headset’s microphone can pick up your voice if it’s not noisy, but struggles a bit when you are in a noisy environment like when you are travelling. This is common in most Bluetooth headsets since the microphone far away to catch your voice clearly.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The Bluetooth headset supports 4.0 and is compatible with Android, iOS devices along with MP3 players with Bluetooth support. It has a built-in battery that claims up to 6.6 days standby, 6.5 hours of talk time and up to 4.5 hours of music playback. We managed to get over 4 hours of music playback, which is good for a compact headset. It takes about 2 hours to charge the headset to charge completely.
iPhone shows the remaining battery of the headset next to the phone’s battery, as you can see in the image above, but you will have to rely on third-party apps like BatON for Android, which is decent, but not accurate.
Conclusion
Overall, the SoundBot SB565 is good for the price. It has a compact, lightweight design, offers good audio quality and the battery life is also good. It comes only in Black color and is priced at Rs. 1990, but you can get it from Amazon.in for Rs. 1,428.
