This week Apple unveiled iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Samsung launched Galaxy Note8 in India. Asus launched Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro and more. Let’s take a look at all the announcements and launches that were highlighted this week.
Samsung launched Galaxy Note8 in India. It packs a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Infinity Display and comes with 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture and telephoto lens offering 2x optical zoom and OIS for both. It has Iris scanner, fingerprint sensor as well as heart rate monitor, similar to the predecessor and is also water resistant up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes with IP68 ratings.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 comes in Midnight Black and Maple Gold colors, is priced at Rs. 67,900 and will be available for pre-order starting today and goes on sale from September 21st from Amazon.in, Samsung Shop online as well as retail stores offline.
Apple introduced iPhone X flagship that packs a 5.8-inch (2436 x 1125) OLED Super Retina edge-to-edge display with 458ppi, highest pixel density in an iPhone. It doesn’t have home button, instead it uses Face ID, face recognition technology to unlock the phone, powered by neural engine with dual-core, design that can carry out 600bn operations per second.
It is powered by A11 Bionic chip, similar to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. It has a Aerospace-grade 7000-series aluminum frame, glass back and is water and dust resistant. It has 12-megapixel dual rear cameras with dual optical image stabilization.
iPhone X will be available from November 3 and pre-order begins October 27.

Apple announced iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus along with iPhone X. These have a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch Retina HD displays, but these have a new glass and aluminum design. These also have new A11 Bionic chip tuned for augmented reality experience. They support for Qi wireless charging. The iPhone 8 has a new 12-megapixel camera with a larger and faster sensor, a new color filter and deeper pixels and quad LED True Tone Flash and the 8 Plus has dual 12-megapixel cameras that has Portrait Lighting that uses the dual cameras.

Apple introduced Apple Watch Series 3 in two versions, including one with built-in cellular connectivity few hours back. At the event it announced that the Apple Watch Series 3 will start at $329 (Rs. 21,040 approx.) and the Watch Series 3 with GPS + Cellular Connectivity will start at $399 (Rs. 25,520). It has also announced that the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) will be available in India along with several countries from September 29 starting at Rs. 29,900.
Apple announced Apple TV 4K and it supports HDR or High Dynamic Range videos from Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Apple says that it offers sharp, crisp images, richer, more true-to-life colors, and far greater detail in both dark and bright scenes. The Apple TV 4K brings new Siri Remote with a new white circle around the menu button. It has A10X Fusion chip, the same chip that powers iPad Pro for a clear 4K HDR experience. It starts at Rs. 15900 in India.
Xiaomi announced the Mi MIX 2 that has a 5.99-inch 18:9 Full HD+ display with ultra narrow bezels, unlike the 6.4-inch display on the first generation Mi MIX with 17:9 aspect ratio and 12% smaller chin compared to the predecessor. It is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 Mobile platform with 6GB of RAM and there is also a Special Edition with 8GB of RAM. It has a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor and a 5-megapixel camera on the front on the right bottom that also supports face recognition.
Xiaomi also announced the Mi Note 3 that has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform and has 12-megapixel dual rear cameras with 2x optical zoom and portrait mode, similar to the Mi 6, but this has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera with Adaptable AI beautify features that is said to offer realistic beautify effect without compromising on quality.
Xiaomi announced the Mi Notebook Pro, the company’s latest high-end Notebook with all metal body with magnesium alloy frame, 140-degree opening and closing hinge and the latest Intel Core i5/i7 processor. It has a 15.6-inch 1080p display with 6.52mm ultra-narrow border, 81.5% screen-to-body ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
ASUS launched Zenfone 4 Selfie and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro smartphones in India. The Zenfone 4 Selfie comes in a single front camera version, in addition to dual front-facing camera version. All the phones have unibody designs, fingerprint sensor on the front and run Android Nougat. The Zenfone 4 Selfie single and dual camera versions will have dedicated dual SIM and microSD card slots.
The ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie single front camera version comes in Deepsea Black, Rose Pink and Sunlight Gold costs Rs. 9999, while the dual front camera version comes in Deepsea Black, Rose Pink and Sunlight Gold colors and costs costs Rs. 14,999, but it will be available at an offer price of Rs. 13,999 during Flipkart’s Big Billion Day sales and the top-end Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro comes in Rouge Red, Sunlight Gold and Deepsea Black colors and is priced at Rs. 23,999.
OPPO launched A71 that has a 5.2-inch HD display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor, runs on Android 7.1 (Nougat) OS with ColorOS 3.1 on top, has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1/3.06-inch sensor and f/2.2 aperture and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, but it doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor.
