WhatsApp beta for Android gets storage management feature

WhatsApp for Android beta is getting a new feature that will allow you manage storage on your phone. The feature which is already available for iOS, will offer you a detailed break-up of the amount of space your chats is using on your device.

After updating the WhatsApp beta Android app, head to Setting> Data and Storage usage> Storage Usage. Once you tap, you will have to wait until the app loads all your chat conversations with your contacts following which it will show the space each contact has taken. Furthermore, it also lets you know which groups or individual chats have taken up more space than the other. Tapping on a group and individual chat will give you detailed data of every message type that has been sent or received including text messages, shared contact cards, locations, images, GIFs, videos, audio messages, and documents. You can manage messages by deleting the media files or messages.

The feature is especially useful to delete unnecessary chats that is hogging up the space on your phone. The latest storage feature is rolling out for WhatsApp beta version 2.17.340.
