Samsung had a great 2017 so far with the launch and success of three flagships-Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Galaxy Note8. Even though, all the three smartphones have impressed us with their design and display, buyers have complained about the dedicated button Bixby button. Now, it looks like Samsung is finally giving users a way to avoid using the Bixby button.
Samsung is finally allowing users to disable the Bixby button on these smartphones. The company is rolling out a software update to some Galaxy devices that lets users disable the Bixby button from opening the Bixby Home hub. Post the update, users will now see a toggle under the settings at the top of Bixby home that will let you turn it off. The Bixby Home will no longer pop up when you tap the button.
This development was first spotted by SamMobile. You can still continue to access Bixby Voice will by long-pressing the button. Also, Bixby Home will be still accessible by swiping left from the home screen. Last month Samsung started rolling out its Bixby Voice assistant globally. Today at the launch of its flagship Galaxy Note8 smartphone in India, Dipesh Shah, MD, Samsung R&D Institute said that Bixby Voice will be available in India in the next few weeks for the Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones.
