Google unveiled its Pixel 2 smartphone at its event in San Francisco yesterday. We were live at the event and got our hands on the phone. Let’s check out the design and specifications of the Pixel 2 in this photo gallery.
The Pixel 2 sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with 95% DCI-P3 display. It is made of aluminum chassis and has a curved glass panel towards the top of the device that houses the 8MP front camera. Running Android 8.0 (Oreo), the phone is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform.
It has 4GB RAM and comes with 64GB / 128GB internal storage. The phone comes with Always-On Display and will constantly listen to the music around you and identify the song at the bottom of the Always-On Display.
The side of phone has slimmer bezels but the top and bottom bezels are thick as they house stereo front-firing speakers. Also present are three on-screen touch buttons.
The power button and volume rockers are present on the right. The phone measures 145.7 x 69.7 x 7.8 mm and weighs 143g.
The bottom of the phone houses USB Type C port with a microphone. The Pixel 2 does not come with a headphone jack and you will have to rely on USB Type-C powered wired headphones. It has a 2,700 mAh battery and Google says a 15 minute charge can deliver up to 7 hours of battery life.
The fingerprint sensor is bit bigger than the original Pixel phones that makes it easier to find. The glass panel on the back side is smaller and stops short of covering the fingerprint sensor. The Google branding is present at the lower back of the phone.
There is a 12.2MP rear camera with LED flash, OIS, EIS, f/1.8 aperture, 1.4μm pixel size, laser + dual pixel phase detection and 4K video recording.
The Google Pixel 2 64GB/128GB variants are priced at Rs. 61,000 and Rs. 70,000 respectively. It comes in Kinda Blue, Just Black and Clearly White. The phone will be available for pre-order in India from Flipkart online and over 1000 retail stores from October 26th and will go on sale in the country from November 1st.
