On the occasion of YouTube Kids first birthday in India, the company has rolled an update that brings fresh new look, more parental controls, kid profiles and more to the app. YouTube Kids was launched in India back in November 2016. The company says that new features are incorporated into extensive research and inputs gathered from kids and parents.

The new update gives more importance to parental controls giving control over of the kid’s screen time and the content they consume, and it also provides a personalized experience with the ability to create their own identity and content that is linked to their profile in case of shared devices. Parents can create a profile for each of your kids and then choose content levels to manage the types of videos they can watch.

The new kid’s profile works across all different devices. The new setup process will give you more information about the type of content, thus helping you choose the right things before your kids use the app. kids can now set a secret passcode to hide the content from their siblings or to get into their profile. However, parents get the control to override it anytime.

YouTube claims that the YouTube kid’s app gets a total of 800 million learning video views per day. The app is now live in 37 countries, has more than 70 billion views in the app, and more than 11 million weekly active viewers.

Speaking on the Occasion, Don Anderson, Head of Family & Learning Partnerships, YouTube APAC, said;

It has been an incredible year of growth and adoption of YouTube Kids in India. With improved connectivity and affordable data plans, we have seen enormous growth in creation and consumption of learning and educational content in India, making India the fastest growing YouTube kids country in Asia Pacific. Riding on the back of this growth, we’re delighted to bring the updated premium experience tailored to kid’s age with parents still in charge. We look forward to the next phase of growth with popular Indian language kids content scaling in India and abroad.
