Google Assistant on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL failing to detect voice input through Bluetooth headphones

Problems for the latest and greatest Pixel 2 phones from Google aren’t stopping. The new to join the list is Assistant on both Pixel 2, and 2 XL is failing to detect voice input through Bluetooth headphones. This isn’t something new if you have used the original Pixel phones from last which also suffered poor Bluetooth performance.

According to users of the Google Pixel community, when you connect your Bluetooth headphones to a Pixel 2 or 2 XL and trigger Google Assistant, it makes indicating like it is listening but doesn’t seem to detect your voice. Users in the community have tried and tested with different headphone brands and models that are capable of firing up Assistant, but the problem is persistent regardless of the model and hardware.

Google recently rolled out Android 8.1 preview update, and users have reported that it doesn’t solve the issue. The initial post on the Community was from Orrin, Community Manager, so now we know that Google is investigating the problem, but hasn’t made a comment on the same yet. Once it comes to a better understanding of the issue, Google might roll out an update to fix the issue.
