After being in the beta stage for over a month, Android 8.0 Oreo update for Android Wear finally starts rolling out from today. Google has started taking the beta registrations for eligible models back in October.
Though it is technically an OS upgrade, the company while taking beta registrations has mentioned that the update doesn’t bring a lot of new features and will only be termed as “technical upgrade to API 26.” Hoi Lam, Wearables Developer Advocate at Google, has announced the new regarding the update in a Google Plus post and said that the timing of the update is determined by each watch’s manufacturer.
The Android 8.0 Oreo for Android Wear brings changes like the vibration strength settings for notifications, Touch lock option for wet conditions, Support for seven new countries/languages, notification channels, and battery saving improvements. As the update has just started rolling out, it might be a while before it reaches everyone and the company didn’t reveal when the update will arrive a particular device.
