Apple said to be working on low-cost iPhone with LCD display and metal back for 2018

As Apple is done with its iPhone launches for the year, the company is said to have started working on 2018 iPhones, and according to a new report from Nikkei, the Cupertino-based iPhone maker is said to launch a low-cost 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD display and metal back case.

It is known that Apple is working on three iPhone models for 2018  one of which being a low-cost model with an LCD display with an estimated pixel density of 330 PPI. On the other hand, the high-end iPhone models will sport 5.8-inches and 6.5-inches respectively. The LCD model will have a metal back cover instead of a glass back as seen on this year’s iPhones.

The body of the LCD display model could be manufactured by Casetek, a Pegatron subsidiary. This new piece of information falls in line with the earlier report shared by KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose estimates more often not turn out to be true. While the pricing of the model might vary, all the three models are said to feature a full-screen edge-to-edge design and a TrueDepth camera system like the current iPhone X.

According to KGI’s earlier reports, the 6.1-inches model with LCD display will likely target low-end and mid-range markets, and the pricing is said to be $649 to $749 in the United States. Not much is know at the moment, but we should be knowing more details as we move forward.
