Xiaomi launched the Mi A1 Android One smartphone in India back in September running stock Android 7.1 (Nougat) in partnership with Google. At the launch it promised Android 8.0 (Oreo) update for the phone by 2017 and also said that it will also be one of the first phones to get Android P. Last week it started recruitment for Android Oreo beta testers for the phone through Mi Community India as well as MIUI Global Forum and earlier today it selected some active users eligible for the update.
Now it has started rolling out the Oreo update for the selected beta testers. Android 8.0 Oreo comes with array of features including Background limits, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, AAudio API for Pro Audio, WebView enhancements and much more. The update is about 1.1GB in size and has the latest Android security update for December, 2017. If there are no bugs, all the users will get the Oreo update in the coming weeks. The Mi A1 got a price cut in India recently. This will be one of the most affordable Android smartphones to get Android Oreo update.
