Huawei’s Honor brand is know for innovative products. It launched the Honor 7X at a competitive price tag, aimed at photography enthusiasts. Building on the success of the Honor 6X that was launched earlier this year, this has enhanced optics along with improved software features to make the photo experience the best.
To remind you, the phone has dual camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel primary rear camera and secondary 2-megapixel camera with LED flash. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera. The secondary camera is used in the Portrait mode to achieve depth of field effect to capture bokeh-style images with background blur.
The Honor 7X also offers lot of modes such as moving picture mode, portrait mode, wide aperture mode for adjustable aperture (between f/0.95 and f/16) for some interesting depth of field effects, light painting, Pro photo, Night shots, Slow-mo, time-lapse and more. It also has PDAF technology and newly updated algorithm that can focus an object quickly The front camera also brings us a slew of modes including portrait and beauty effects.
When it comes to real-world usage, the camera performs well in most conditions. Under daylight condition is good with a sharp image and fine details. The HDR shots have good contrast and saturation. Low-light images are good as well even in poor lighting condition, thanks to the sensor that offers improved low-light performance. The Night shot mode is impressive in capturing perfect image even in poor lighting since the phone has adjustable exposure of up to 32 seconds in the mode. The Night shot mode and requires a tripod since the phone needs to be steady. It also shows live preview in these modes, which is impressive.
The front camera performs well and makes use of portrait mode very well. The device processing the borders is up to the mark and neat. You can also adjust the beauty mode on the app to remove the blemishes on the skin.
