This week HMD Global introduced the most expected Nokia 6 (2018) smartphone, OnePlus introduced Sandstone White edition of 5T, Honor launched the View 10 smartphone, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 tablet, and more that happened this week in our weekly roundup.
HMD Global this week announced Nokia 6 (2018), the company’s latest mid-range smartphone and the successor of last year’s Nokia 6, smartphone in China, as expected. It has a 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, is powered by Snapdragon 630 Mobile platform, runs on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat), which is upgradable to Android 8.0 (Oreo), has a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera.
It a unibody design with 6000 series aluminium chassis created using two-color anodization process and diamond cutting technology and packs a 3000mAh battery with support for fast charging that can charge the phone up to 50% in 30 minutes.
It comes in Black and Silver colors, is priced at 1499 yuan (US$ 230 approx. / Rs. 14,655 approx.) for the 32GB storage version and the 64GB storage version costs 1699 yuan (US$ 262 approx. / Rs. 16,610 approx.). It goes on sale from January 10th in China.
OnePlus announced OnePlus 5T Sandstone White Limited Edition smartphone, a day earlier than expected. This resembles the 5T Star Wars edition without the Star Wars branding on the back and Star Wars wallpapers, but it has white colored back with smooth Sandstone finish, black colored power button and volume rockers and comes Mineral Red colored alert slider on the left.
OnePlus 5T Sandstone White Limited Edition and comes only in 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version. It is priced at US$559 / €559 / £499 same as the standard Midnight Black 8GB RAM + 128GB Storage version and will go on sale starting on January 9, at 10AM ET/ 10AM CET/ 10AM GMT depending on the region.
Huawei’s Honor brand this week launched the Honor View 10 smartphone in India this week. It has a 5.99-inch 18:9 FullView display with ultra narrow bezels, Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 10nm SoC with i7 co-processor, dedicated neural network processing unit and Android 8.0 (Oreo) with Emotion UI 8.0.
It comes with 16-megapixel RGB sensor along with 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with Artificial intelligence engine that offers Real-Time Scene to recognize 13 different types of scenes and objects to automatically adjusts your camera settings to help you shoot in any environment. It also comes with A.I motion detection and smart camera features and comes with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with A.I selfie portraits and face unlock.
It comes in Midnight Black and Navy Blue colors and is priced at Rs. 29,999. It will be available exclusively on Amazon.in starting from Monday, January 8. Check out the Honor View 10 unboxing here.
Samsung launched 16GB version of theGalaxy On Nxt smartphone this week in India. It comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, Exynos 7870 14nm processor, fingerprint sensor, unibody metal design and a 3300mAh battery, same as the 32GB and 64GB versions.
It in Gold and Black colors, is priced at Rs. 10,900 and is available exclusively from Flipkart at a discounted price of Rs. 9999 during its 2018 Mobiles Bonanza Sale between 3rd and 5th January, 2018. Check out our Samsung Galaxy On Nxt review.
Samsung also launched Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (SM-T285), a new tablet in India with 4G VoLTE voice calling support. It was originally introduced as Galaxy Tab A 2016 a couple of years back, has a 7-inch WXGA screen, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.
It runs on old Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with Kids Mode with Parental Control that lets parents set usage time limits and restricting app access. It comes in Black and White colors, is priced at Rs. 9,500 and is e available across retail stores and will also be available on Amazon.in soon.
Huawei’s Honor brand this week launched Honor Band A2 in India. It was introduced in China back in May last year, has a 0.96-inch OLED touch display and heart rate sensor with continuous heart rate tracking during fitness activities. In addition to fitness, it also has sleep tracking that offers suggestions based on the sleep data to help improve their sleep quality.
It also notifies the users of incoming calls and messages when connected to to your phone over Bluetooth. It has sweat and water-resistance and promises with up to 9 days of battery life. It comes in Black color, is priced at Rs. 2499 and will be available exclusively from Amazon.in starting from January 8th.
Dell ahead of the CES 2018 event has introduced the XPS 13 laptop with a refreshing new design that features InfinityEdge 13-inch display that fits in an 11-inch frame. It is powered by the 8th gen Intel Core processors with a 4K display on the 13-inch model. The company claims that the XPS 13 looks as good as it did on day 1 even on day 1,000.
The new XPS 13 is already available in the US through Dell, and Microsoft online stores and local Microsoft Store as well. The pricing starts at $999.99 (Rs.63,364.87 approx.). Dell also launched Ubuntu-based developer edition with Linux pre-loaded starting at $949.99 (Rs. 60,196.59 approx.) and is available already in the UK and USA. There’s no word on India launch yet.
Samsung ahead of CES 2018 introduced its first 34-inch Curved ultra-wide QHD QLED monitor CJ791 with support for Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 connectivity offering a single-source to link and dock the monitor and laptop, ahead of CES 2018. It offers 3440×1440 ultra-wide QHD resolution with 21:9 aspect ratio, has 1,500R curvature and ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle.
Lenovo ahead of the CES 2018 event introduced new ThinkPad T, X and L series laptops, Tablet 10 and ThinkPad Docking Station. The ThinkPad series laptops come with thinner and lighter designs with 8th Generation Intel Core processors with the support for Windows Hello Facial Recognition.
The ThinkPad series includes T, X and L series laptops and the ThinkPad L Series features company’s Yoga design with 13” displays. The ThinkPad L series includes L380 Yoga, ThinkPad L380, ThinkPad L480, and L580 laptops and they are termed as the business machines by the company.
Lenovo introduced K320t, the company’s latest budget smartphone and its first smartphone with full-screen 18:9 display and dual rear cameras in China. It was certified by TENAA last month, packs a 5.7-inch HD+ screen with 81.4% screen-to-body ratio and comes with an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera to capture the depth information.
It comes in Black color, is priced at 999 yuan (US$ 153 / Rs. 9,770 approx.) , but it will be available at a discounted price of 799 yuan (US$ 123 / Rs. 7,810 approx.) in China.
LG this week introduced its flagship V30 smartphone in new Raspberry Rose color variant that joins Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue and Lavender Violet color variants. The new version will roll out in Korea soon after CES and will gradually be available in key markets in Europe and Asia as well.
