Samsung Galaxy S9 could use new ISOCELL sensor with 1080p 480fps recording

Ahead of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ launch, Samsung has unveiled its new ISOCELL camera sensor that comes with technologies like Tetracell and Smart WDR. The new camera sensor technologies will enable capabilities like variable capturing and slow-mo video recording.

The ISOCELL Bright Tetracell technology significantly improves light sensitivity in low-light conditions by merging four neighboring pixels into one big pixel.  This technology was initially announced back in October. The WDR technology allows you to capture multiple exposures in a single shot, resulting in brighter images even in dark situations. This basically should enhance shots clicked through the front camera.

The three-stack fast readout sensor; ISOCELL Fast is touted to bring capabilities like recording Full HD 1080p videos at high frame rates, as high as 480 frames per second. This also gets support from advanced PDAF (Phase Detecting Auto Focus) through Dual Pixel and Super PD sensor. Next is the ISOCELL Slim which is said to offer high-resolution image capturing experience in an as ultra-thin presence as 0.9 microns.

The Samsung’s ISOCELL Dual enables features such as optical zoom, low-light shooting, and depth sensor for portrait and Bokeh clicks. The all-new camera sensor with the said technologies is expected to debut with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The retail box leak of the s9 clearly tells us its ability to record super-slow-mo videos indicating the possibility of 1080p videos at 480fps. The phone is said to have super-speed Dual-Pixel 12-megapixel camera with OIS, an F1.5/2.4 variable aperture and an 8-megapixel selfie snapper on the front.
