Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones in India last month, which went on sale exclusively on Flipkart as well as Mi.com from February 22nd, and the company said that over 3 lakh units sold out within minutes. Even though Redmi Note 5 was available for few minutes after the sale opened, Redmi Note 5 Pro goes out of stock in seconds.
Several customers, including our readers were complaining that some of the them who got the phones are re-selling the Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones online at higher rates.
Today Xiaomi has announced that it will remove Cash-on-delivery (COD) payment option for the upcoming Redmi Note 5 Pro sales on Mi.com and Flipkart initially. The company said that this move is an experiment to restrict reselling and also said that this would give its genuine consumers a better chance at purchasing its products.
The company also said that it will always, and will continue to stringently discourage unauthorized reselling across all its channels.
Xiaomi also advises users to limit keep a check on rejection of COD orders over a specified number and refrain ordering from multiple IDs with the same user info from getting their Mi account getting blocked.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will go on sale in all four color variants including Lake Blue and Rose Gold along with 6GB RAM variant tomorrow, March 7th at 12:00 PM on Flipkart and Mi.com.
