The Galaxy S9+ has a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ (2960 × 1440 pixels) 529ppi Super AMOLED Infinity end-to-end, bezel-less screen that extends to the phone’s sides, similar to the S8+. Samsung says that the display is 15% brighter than the S8+ under sunlight. It also has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
It has an 8MP auto focus front-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens, same as the predecessor. There is also an Iris scanner on the front. The version we have is powered by Exynos 9 Series 9810 processor with Mali G72MP18 GPU, even though some markets like the U.S. gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 version. It has 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 256GB of internal storage. We have the 64GB version. It runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) with Samsung Experience version 9.0.
It also has hybrid dual SIM slot, similar to the predecessor. It comes with Stereo speakers tuned by AKG and has Surround sound with Dolby Atmos technology.
Similar to the Galaxy Note8, this has dual rear cameras, but the primary camera has a 12MP sensor with Dual Aperture: F1.5 mode/ F2.4 mode that switches automatically depending on the lighting condition. The secondary camera is same 12-megapixel unit from the Note8 with telephoto lens, f/2.4 aperture, 45-degree FOV and OIS for portrait shots and 2x zoom. It also has 960fps Super Slow-mo video.
Unlike the S8 series, the fingerprint sensor is now below the camera sensor so it is easy to access. It also has Bixby assistant with dedicated key to launch it. Samsung has also added AR Emoji that uses machine learning to analyse and map your face to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions.
It has a glass back with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is 8.5mm thick, slightly thicker than the 8.1mm S8+ and weighs 189 grams, again slightly heavier than the predecessor. It is also Water and dust resistant with IP68 ratings and packs a 3500mAh built-in battery with support for wireless charging, same as the predecessor.
It is priced at Rs. 64,900 for the 64GB version and the 256GB version costs Rs. 72,900. It is already available for pre-order from Flipkart Samsung Shop as well as offline stores and ships from March 16th. We will bring you the complete review of the smartphone soon.
