HTC VIVE Pro with dual-OLED displays now available for pre-order at $799

Back in January at the CES, HTC had introduced the HTC VIVE Pro with dual-OLED displays, and today the company has announced it is available for pre-order at $799. The company has also announced a price cut of $100 for the current Vive full kit, bringing down its price to $499.

The VIVE Pro upgrade packs dual-OLED displays with 2880 x 1600 resolution combined which is a 78% increase in resolution over the current VIVE HMD. The improved resolution brings much sharper text, graphics, and overall experience. The VIVE Pro also features built-in high-performing headphones with a built-in amplifier and dual microphones with active noise cancellation.

It also has dual front-facing cameras designed to empower developer creativity. The Vive Pro also features a redesigned head-strap that is capable of balancing the weight of the headset more evenly and features easy simple adjustment buttons for Vive users with glasses. It works with both SteamVR Tracking 1.0 and 2.0.

All the pre-orders and orders made before June 3rd will come with a free six-month trial to Viveport Subscription, where consumers can choose up to 5 titles per month from the more than 400 titles available. For those who purchased the Pro after the first 60 days of orders will come with a free two-month trial. The HTC VIVE Pro is priced at $799 (Rs. 52,110 approx.) and will start shipping from April 5th. Users can pre-order the VIVE Pro on Vive.com and other Vive retailers.

The company has announced a price hike for the Viveport Subscription, which will now increase to $8.99 on March 22nd. Current Subscribers and those who sign up before the increase will have the previous at $6.99 at least the end of the year.
