OnePlus, the successful upstart, is around here for a few years now, with some really good smartphones up in its portfolio. This prospering company never fails when it comes to producing quality smartphone at a rather cheaper price packing latest specifications. Now, OnePlus is all set to unveil its next flagship smartphone OnePlus 6 in a span of few weeks. Before, that, let’s take a look back at OnePlus and the different devices it’s put out over the years. If you look back, the company seemed to come out with better products successively in smartphones.
OnePlus gained its massive fan following after the launch of OnePlus 3/3T, which proved to be a phenomenal device from its predecessor. In fact, the OnePlus 3/3T probably has one of the biggest changes or deviations in OnePlus history. With OnePlus 3/3T, the company made many changes including bringing back the NFC, introduced metal unibody, keeping the fingerprint scanner and of course the dash charging technology. The OnePlus 3/3T is also one of the slimmest flagship phones from OnePlus at just 7.3 mm. Also, we have a curved back with a right amount to feel and fit naturally in your hand. Moreover, the finish is excellent too that has an aluminum rear sporting a non-shiny look.
Moving on to its successor, the OnePlus 5 is yet another handsome phone that’s launched to replace the OnePlus 3T. The front is pretty much the same as OnePlus 3 and 3T, while the rear has been changed to fit the dual camera setup. Moreover, the OnePlus has managed to make this phone so comfortable to hold and pleasure to use, as the curved back fits perfectly in the palm. This, in turn, allows the user to reach all the elements on the phone with a single hand. The mix of these factors made OnePlus 5 yet another successful smartphone.
After a matter of few months OnePlus launched the mid-cycle upgrade of the OnePlus 5 – the OnePlus 5T with some noteworthy upgrade both in terms of hardware and bit on design as well. With this mobile, the fingerprint scanner has been moved back in order to give more room for the display. The bezels have been trimmed to equip 18:9 aspect ratio 6.01-inch Full HD+ Optic AMOLED display. Apart from these changes, the body is almost exactly the same. It uses the same aluminum alloy shell and has the same antenna lines as the 5.
The company also tweaked the camera of the OnePlus 5T to enhance camera performance in low-light and clarity. In fact, the OnePlus 5T features the same 16-megapixel primary main camera with Sony IMX398 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, 1.12μm pixel size as its predecessor, but the OnePlus 5’s telephoto lens has been replaced with a 20-megapixel secondary camera equipped with a large f/1.7 aperture that focuses on low-light photography. It uses Sony IMX376K sensor instead of Sony IMX350.
The upcoming OnePlus 6 will have OnePlus’ biggest screen to date, with a notch-assisted screen-to-body ratio of 90%. It will also come with a faster Snapdragon 845 SoC with 8GB of RAM.
On the other hand, while most companies are getting rid of the 3.5mm audio jack, OnePlus is one of the few companies that has retained it. Yet another noticeable feature in the OnePlus smartphone is the Alert Slider and the ability to customize it by choosing what to keep active and what to silence in each mode. These are the features that make the OnePlus smartphones a unique one.
