Instagram is now rolling out ‘Focus’ feature which is nothing but a portrait-mode for photos and videos falling in line with the earlier reports. The focus feature is now available on iPhone SE, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X and, select Android devices.
Once you update the app, you will see the new “Focus” option next to “Superzoom” under the record button. You can take a selfie or switch to the back-facing camera. The app recognizes when there is a person in the frame and softly blurs the background making sure they stand out in a striking way.
Like always, you can simply tap to take a photo or tap and hold to record a video. When you’re done, you can add creative tools like filters, stickers, and text to your photo or video before sending to your friends on Instagram Direct or adding to your story. Apart from Focus, Instagram is also bringing ‘Mention Stickers’ to iOS. The company says that this feature will make it easier connect with friends in your stories.
After you have taken a photo or video in your stories camera, open the stickers tray, tap the @mention sticker to start typing the name of the account you want to mention and select from the options that appear. It also gives you the option to rotate, scale and place your sticker wherever you like. The update is already available for Android and iOS in App Store and the Play Store.
