Infocus Vision 3 Pro Review

InFocus recently launched Vision 3 Pro, the company’s latest smartphone and the successor of last year’s Vision 3 in India. Let’s check how good is the mobile for its retail price Rs. 10,999.

Box Contents

  • Infocus Vision 3 Pro smartphone in Black color
  • Micro USB Cable
  • 2-pin charger (5V-1.5A)
  • In-ear headset
  • SIM Ejector tool
  • User manual and warranty information

Display, design, and hardware

The Infocus Vision 3 Pro sports a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with 82.4% screen-to-body ratio on board. The display has good viewing angles, offers vibrant color output and the sunlight visibility is also good. However, the company didn’t confirm the implementation of any Corning Gorilla Glass yet.

Above the screen there is a 13-megapixel front camera, tiny notification LED along with the usual set of proximity and ambient light sensor. The earpiece is present next to the sensors.

Below the screen, there is a little chin without any physical button on it. In order to make more room for display, the company has opted on-screen navigation buttons.

On the back, there is a dual camera setup with a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, a secondary 8-megapixel camera. There is a fingerprint sensor below that, which is comfortable to reach when holding the phone in single hand. You can also see silver colored antenna lines running on the top and the bottom part of the back.

On the right side of the phone, there is volume rocker along with power button. On the left, there is a hybrid dual SIM slot. On the top, there is a 3.5mm audio jack and at the bottom, there is a micro USB port, speaker grille, and a secondary microphone.

When you use the ejector tool to open the SIM tray, you find a primary nano-SIM slot along with the secondary nano-SIM or a microSD card slot in a single tray.

Software, UI, and apps

The Infocus Vision 3 Pro is shipped with Android 7.0 (Nougat) out of the box with April 5, 2018, Android security patch level. Apart from the usual Google utility apps, inbuilt tools, it also comes with Amazon Shopping, Amazon Video, Mkey, and UC browser apps. As of now, there are no updates if the phone will get a future Android update.

Out of 4GB RAM, we got around 2.5GB RAM free in general during casual usage. Out of 64GB of storage, 49.9GB of storage is free. If not enough, users can expand the storage up to 128GB through MicroSD card slot as well.

It has Google Play Music with equalizer and Surround sound can be enabled from the settings to improve the audio when listening through earphones. That said, audio through the third-party earphones is decent and the loudspeaker output is good. The FM Radio has usual UI, has auto scanning and recording.

Fingerprint sensor

It has a fingerprint sensor on the back that is easy to reach when holding the phone in single hand. It is quick to unlock the phone in seconds but doesn’t detect if your fingers are wet. You can add up to 5 fingerprints, and it can also tell if you are adding the same fingerprint again.

Connectivity, Calling and messaging

It has the usual set of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It has 4G connectivity with support from a lot of bands and also has Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) support for Reliance Jio. Both the SIMs support 4G, but you can enable 4G only in one SIM at a time, while the other goes to 2G. You can set preferred SIM for a voice call, text and data. It also has USB on-the-go (OTG) support.

The dialer and messaging UI are similar to other stock Android phones running on Android Nougat. Since this is a dual SIM phone, you get option to select either SIMs when calling or sending text message. There are no call drops and the earpiece volume is good.

Performance

The Infocus Vision 3 Pro is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 (4 x 1.5GHz A53 + 4 x 1.0GHz A53) processor with Mali T860 GPU under the hood. The performance is good without any lags. Equipped with 4GB of RAM, it is more than enough to run several apps in the background.

Camera

The Infocus Vision 3 Pro comes equipped with a dual camera setup — a 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, PDAF, and a secondary 8MP camera. In our usage, the Daylight shots are good, but it doesn’t focus properly to capture macro shots. HDR shots are decent. Low-light images have a lot of noise and came out blurry. Images with flash are good and the flash is not overpowering. The front camera is average. It takes decent selfies and videos as well. Dual Camera

Battery

The Infocus Vision 3 Pro is powered by a 4000mAh battery without any fast charging technology. In our usage, it took us through one-day comfortably on casual usage. In fact, we had around 30 percent at the end of the day. On heavy usage, we got strictly around 1 day and not more than that. On the downside, it takes around 2 and half hours for charging.

Conclusion

At a price of Rs. 10,999, the Infocus Vision 3 Pro is a decent outing from the company under mid-range segment. Even though there are a lot of smartphones come with huge batteries under Rs. 10,000, only a few phones tick all the boxes when it comes to value for money. You can’t say the Vision 3 Pro from InFocus is perfect, mainly due to HD+ screen, hybrid dual SIM slot, old Android Nougat OS and not so impressive cameras. The InFocus Vision 3 Pro comes in Black, Gold colors and is available exclusively from Amazon.in.
