Vivo introduced APEX as the world’s first bezel-less smartphone with in-display fingerprint scanner and over 90% screen-to-body ratio at the MWC 2018 back in February. At that time it said that the phone is still in concept stage and will go into production in mid-2018. Now the company has announced that it will be introduced at an event in Shanghai, China on June 12th.
It has also showcased a new ad in China that highlights the features of the phone.
The company already said that it is using its FullView technology in breakthroughs to the camera, speaker, and sensor elements. It is also the world’s first Half-Screen Fingerprint Scanning Technology, following the industry’s first mass-produced In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Smartphone X20 Plus UD. It features slim top and side bezels at 1.8mm and a 4.3mm bottom bezel which is the thinnest in the industry. The screen-to-body ratio is expected to be around 98% if the bottom bezel reaches 1.8mm, ultimately creating a truly bezel-less experience.
The SoundCasting Technology transforms the entire FullView Display into a speaker. It sends vibrations through the display without the need for a traditional loudspeaker. It conserves power, reduces sound leakage, and optimizes low to high pith sound for a better and more balanced audio experience.
It features an 8MP Elevating front camera which seamlessly rises in 0.8 seconds when it is required and retracts after use. The phone deploys a new System in Package (SIP) technology to integrate the DAC and the three operational amplifiers together, reducing the need for circuit board space by nearly 60%.
We should know the final name of the phone along with complete specifications and the price when it goes official next month.
