Gboard testing smart replies for WhatsApp, Facebook, Allo, Snapchat and more

Google’s stock keyboard Gboard is said to be testing a new smart replies feature that will work for WhatsApp, Facebook, Allo, Snapchat, and more. The feature is currently in development, so might be a while before it rolls out to everyone.

To set up the feature, you will need to first open up a notification from any app that supports quick reply box and then have to tap on the suggestion to enable the feature in Gboard’s autocomplete bar.

However, you will need to grant notification access permission. Once you give it enough permissions, it will show smart replies on apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Allo, Snapchat, Android Messages, Google Hangouts, and more.

It should be noted that Google is still tweaking the TensorFlow machine learning model that will be used for smart replies. Having the Smart Replies feature within Gboard is far better and comfortable than installing the ‘Reply‘ app despite support more number of apps. Off lately, Google has been pushing the Smart Replies feature, Non-Project Fi Android Messages users just started getting it. redesigned Gmail also brings along such functionality.
