Here’s what to expect from Google event on October 9th – Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel Slate, Home Hub and more

It looks like Google is planning to reveal a lot of hardware products on October 9th event. One among them is the Pixel Slate book aka‘Nocturne’, which was in the news for a while and today we are getting to see the detachable tablet in render images. Going the leaked images, it looks like the Pixel Slate book will run on Chrome OS as expected and feature a detachable keyboard and an active stylus.

It will be the first Chrome OS tablet and has slightly newer software and UI design. It will feature a touchscreen display with 3:2 aspect ratio and comes with a capacitive stylus similar to the one launched with last year’s Pixelbook laptop. It looks like the Pixel Slate book will have a front camera and a rear camera along with the Google logo. The power button is at the top and it could feature a built-in fingerprint reader. It has a USB-Type C port on the side and features front-facing stereo speakers.

There is a dedicated Google Assistant launch key on the accessory and it appears to run a newer version of Chrome OS software with a back button and a centralized icon dock at the bottom. But we don’t really have concrete specifications of the tablet yet. Apart from the Pixel Slate, Google is also scheduled to launch the Pixel 3-series flagship smartphones which aren’t new to leaks. We recently saw the Pixel 3 leak on the new carrier ad from a retailer’s magazine including a Top Shot” camera feature, as well as Google Home Hub which is also said to launch at the Pixel event.

The  ‘Top Shot’ which will enable the phone to “capture the perfect shot every time.” The ad also mentions “groupie selfies,” which might be referring to the wide-angle camera sensor on the front of each Pixel 3 device.

The ‘Google Home Hub’ will offer a 7-inch screen and with the ability to interact with the Google Assistant. Much like Smart Speakers from Lenovo, and others, the AI-based smart speaker with a display from Google will have its own limitations. The 7-inch display will display essential information such as the time, weather, and even information related to your daily commute via Google Maps.

The company is also prepping a new ‘Pixel Stand‘ which is a wireless charging accessory for Pixel 3. The dock will likely work when the phone is in portrait orientation. Furthermore, it will include some sort of slideshow function; similar to Google Photos “Photo Frame” functionality on smart displays. Lastly, Google will also introduce a new refreshed Chromecast 3 with Bluetooth connectivity and improved Wi-Fi reception.

It will have the same basic design with circular body housing the components and an HDMI cable attached to connect to the TV. The upcoming Chromecast said to have eliminated the magnetic connector that allows easy management of that HDMI cable, though.

Since the launch is just a couple of days away, we don’t have to wait much longer to know more details about the Google products.
