MIUI will get rid of ads that affect user experience, bring several new features: CEO

Xiaomi is known for showing ads on its phones with MIUI, which the company says is done in order to support the development cost of its own apps. Now the CEO has confirmed that he had discussion with MIUI developers for over three hours, and said that it will give priority in solving users’ issues.

Xiaomi’s product director Wang Teng Thomas said that the CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that MIUI will remove advertisements in MIUI that affect the user experience and also remove vulgar ads.

Xiaomi started development of MIUI 11 back in January, which promised ‘new and unique OS’. Last week in a Q&A Xiaomi said that MIUI 11 will add new set of unified system icons redesigned from the ground up, ultimate power saving mode with option to only make calls and messages in monochrome mode to conserve power and lots more. System-wide Dark mode is already rolling out with latest Android Pie update for several devices, so it should be available out of the box in MIUI 11.

Now MIUI has announced that after reviewing the feedback from everyone, it has selected six top features. It has asked users to vote for three new features that should be prioritized for development. MIUI product planning team will develop them based on the results of the voting.
