Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 into space to take some shots and brought it back in functioning condition


Xiaomi has announced that it launched the Redmi Note 7 (Chinese 48MP version) into space and back. It traveled 35,375 meters above sea level, with external temperature of -58°C, internal temperature of 4°C, 1 KPA atmospheric pressure, and it was still working perfectly after it came back, said the company.

Before the launch it did a lot of simulations, and made a custom 3D printed rig built to withstand temperatures of -60°C. The phone was sent about 30 kilometers in space for a period of 2 hours using hydrogen balloon.

It sent three devices, and One devices was used for photographing and placed it was a special temperature isolation chamber. For the phone used for taking pictures, the company loaded a software so that it can take pictures automatically at different intervals after the lift.
