Dell announces new XPS 13 2-in 1, XPS 15 and Vostro laptops


At the ongoing Computex 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, many OEMs including Asus, HP, Razer announced several new and refreshed laptops. In similar lines, Dell has also announced new and refreshed models of XPS 13 2-in 1, XPS 15 and Vostro laptops alongside new Inspiron PCs and Inspiron All-In-Ones.

Dell XPS 13 2-in-1

The new XPS 13 2-in-1 flaunts a 13.4-inch 16:10 ‘UltraSharp ‘4K Ultra HD+ InfinityEdge touch display with a resolution of 3840 x 2400. It is powered by up to Intel’s new 10th Gen Ice Lake processor, making it Dell’s first laptop being powered by this chip. It is more powerful than the fanless Y-series models found in the older XPS 12 2-in-1. It has up to 32GB LPDDR4x SDRAM at 3733MHz, up to 1TB PCIe 3 x4 SSD and Intel UHD/Intel Iris Plus graphics.

Dell has redesigned the keyboard on the new XPS 13 2-in-1 and uses the maglev key technology found on Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 launched last year. There is a lot of metal used compared to the previous version and the fingerprint sensor’s position has been moved in line with the keyboard, opposed to underneath the keyboard that was seen on previous models. The webcam is now located at the top bezel, based on feedback from users.

Dell XPS 15

The updated XPS 15 flaunts a 15.6-inch 4K Ultra HD InfinityEdge touch display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It is now powered by up to 9th Generation Intel Core processors, up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics, up to 64GB RAM and up to 1TB PCIe SSD. It has Wi-Fi 6 support and has the webcam at the top bezel similar to the XPS 13 2-in-1. The company has used premium materials on this laptop including premium materials including CNC machined aluminum, carbon fiber, and Gorilla Glass.

Dell Vostro

Vostro 13 5000 and Vostro 15 7000 are the new addition to the Dell Vostro lineup of laptops. The new Vostro 13 5000 flaunts a 13.3-inch Full HD TrueLife LED Backlight non-touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 8565U processor,
up to 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and up to 512GB  M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. The keyboard is a standard full-size spill-resistant keyboard with multi-touch gesture support and optional backlit. Regarding the physical ports, the Vostro 13 5000 has 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A, 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type C, 1 HDMI v1.4b and a single 3.5mm Headphone/Microphone combination jack.

The Vostro 15 7000, on the other hand, flaunts a 15.6-inch Full HD Anti-glare LED Backlight non-touch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It is powered by up to 9th Generation Intel Core i9 9880H processor, up to 16GB LPDDR4 RAM, up to 512GB  M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. Regarding the physical ports, the Vostro 15 7000 has 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type A, 1 Thunderbolt Type C, 1 HDMI 2.0 and a single 3.5mm Headphone/Microphone combination jack.

Pricing and Availablity

The new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 and the new XPS 15 are priced at US$999 (Rs. 69,740 approx.). XPS 15 will be available to purchase in the coming weeks and XPS 13 will be available starting July 2019 in the US.

The new Dell Vostro 13 5000 is priced at US$849 (Rs. 59,260 approx.) and the new Dell Vostro 15 7000 is priced at US$1149 (Rs. 80,200 approx.). Both the laptops are available to buy now in the US.
