At the ongoing WWDC 2019 event in San Jose, Apple introduced its latest iOS 13, watchOS 6, tvOS 13 with new features and changes. tvOS 13 has now got some interesting features including a new home screen, new screensaver, Apple music lyrics, support for Xbox One and PS4 controllers and more. These features should be rolling out on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K sometime in September 2019.
New home screen and multi-user support
Apple is improving the recommendations on the tvOS 13 and now, all the users in the family will see a newly redesigned home screen that will offer them better recommendations. The apps on the new home screen will now play full-screen video previews. However, in order to get started with this, users in the home would require individual profiles, and they will start seeing content recommendations like TV shows, movie, music and more tailored for them.
Apple is also allowing users to switch accounts, and they will also be able to sync devices, access settings and more right from the Control Center on the tvOS. The Control Centre will also give users access to key features like system sleep and audio routing.
Apple Music lyrics
tvOS 13 users can now follow along to on-screen lyrics timed in sync with their favorite songs. It also comes with multi-user support and all the users in the family can play their personalized playlists and recommendations. Users will see personalized song recommendations based on their search history and listening habits.
Xbox One and PS4 game controllers support
Apple Arcade, the company’s subscription of unlimited access to more than 100 new and exclusive games will be coming to Apple TV 4K later this year. In similar lines, tvOS 13 adds support for Xbox One S and PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers allowing gamers to take advantage of Apple Arcade subscription.
New screen savers
With the new tvOS 13, Apple is expanding its collection of 4K HDR screen savers available on Apple TV 4K. The new screen savers include mesmerizing creatures and scenes captured from the depths of oceans around the world. This should turn a few heads as it visually looks stunning.
tvOS 13 Availability
tvOS 13 will be available this September for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD users and developer preview is available for Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com starting today, and a public beta program will be available to tvOS users later this month at beta.apple.com.
